Because dementia is an “invisible” disease, it’s easy to meet a person with Alzheimer’s and not realize the daily struggles they face.
On the outside everything may seem OK, but make no mistake, it takes a special set of strategies for a person with dementia and their care partner to continue to live positively with the disease.
I recently had a wonderful conversation with Laurie Scherrer where she talked about how she and her husband Roy work 1 day at a time to implement strategies which allow them to stay active and enjoy life.

When you watch the interview you will also learn how they work together with friends and family to put systems in place to identify and overcome obstacles. This teamwork empowered Laurie to have an incredible vacation diving in the Caribbean.

I am Laurie’s aunt and I know how she works each day to enjoy what she has right now I. Her life. She has written and participated in various interviews with such inspiring words hoping to help others and for us all to also help ourselves. And to understand what she and her husband are doing to live to the fullest. We are all so proud of her. She is our blessing.
