Show Notes:
For the past 3 episodes, Christy Turner and I have been discussing the four elements that I teach strategies for in my signature course, Adapting Your Home for Dementia.
In episodes 48 through 50, we discussed the importance of safety, function, and stimulation in a dementia friendly home.
In this episode, we close out this series with a discussion on the fourth element: eliminating triggers which result in negative outcomes; aka. Unwanted behaviors.
If you’ve been incorporating the elements of safety, function, and stimulation into your home, then you are already well on your way to eliminating negative triggers.
Adapting your home for dementia and making it dementia friendly is a lot of work but by taking incremental steps each day, you can keep your loved one home longer, safer, and happier.
Thank you and I look forward to sharing more with you next week when Christy and I start a 3 episode series on end of life – creating a good death, things no one tells you about end of life, and the end of life specialists.
Bye now.
